Announcing 2025 Food Security and Austin Fresh Grants

The importance of CFF’s commitment to food security has come into sharper focus this fall as SNAP funding lapsed during the government shutdown, sparking an almost immediate surge at neighborhood food pantries and grocery programs. This disruption, combined with rising food, housing, and healthcare costs, has made it difficult for neighbors to access the fresh food they need—and with the recent changes to SNAP eligibility included in H.R.1, access to public food benefits will continue to narrow in the months ahead.

In response to this moment, the Christopher Family Foundation is proud to be standing alongside many incredible partners working to ensure that neighbors have the food they need today, while also taking steps towards a long-term vision of food sovereignty.

CFF is proud to announce support for the following organizations:

Additionally, the Austin Fresh funding collaborative, of which the Christopher Family Foundation is a founding member, recently awarded grants to the following organizations working to strengthen the food ecosystem in the Austin neighborhood:

Detailed descriptions of each Austin Fresh award can be found here. Austin Fresh is in its final year of an initial 5-year commitment to advancing Austin quality-of-life plan goals related to expanding healthy retail options, supporting community gardens and local food production, growing food enterprises, and protecting and strengthening food assistance programs. Austin Fresh is currently funded by Builders Vision, The Christopher Family Foundation, Food, Land, Opportunity,  The Lumpkin Family Foundation, and the Walter Mander Foundation. Decisions are made with participation from Austin Coming Together.

Finally, CFF continues to seek ways to be responsive to the challenges of this current moment and has made additional responsive funding grants to Austin Fresh, Greater Chicago Food Depository and Northern Illinois Food Bank.
